The haldi ceremony muslim tradition, often called the ‘Manjha’ or ‘Mayun’, is a beautiful pre-wedding ritual. While similar to the Hindu Haldi in its use of turmeric paste to beautify the couple, the cultural nuances differ. It is usually an intimate affair held at the bride and groom’s respective homes. The atmosphere is filled with traditional folk songs and the beating of the dholki. An anchor or family elder often leads the event, ensuring that the modesty and traditions of the family are respected while celebrating the upcoming union with joy, sweets, and family bonding.
